Darrell HandyThird Ward Councilman Darrell Handy is a 1973 graduate of Fairview High School. In 1992 Darrell earned his Associates Degree from Northwest State Community College, and in 1996 received his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Defiance College. In 1996, Darrell completed the Chamber of Commerce's Leadership Defiance County program. Darrell is currently employed as the Warehouse/Logistics Manager for Titan Tire in Bryan and serves on the Plant Leadership Team. Darrell is a former seven-year member of the Four County Alcohol, Drug and Mental Health Board which he chaired for two years. Darrell holds appointments to the Defiance Area Reinvestment Committee and the Solid Waste District Policy Committee. Darrell was appointed to council to fill out a one year-unexpired term. Darrell was then elected in 1995, 1999 and 2003. As a member of City Council, Darrell serves as the Chairman of both the Water and Economic Development Committees, member of the Finance and Sewer Committee. Darrell also serves as Council's representative to the Tax Incentive Review Board. Outside of his Council duties, Darrell serves on the Northwest State Community College Foundation and served as an alternate to the Ohio Association of Community College's, a Trustee of the Defiance County Improvement Corporation, a member of the Purple and Gold Club and the Varsity D Club. Darrell is a former trustee of Northwest State Community College. Darrell holds memberships with the Defiance Elks. Darrell also serves as a member of the Defiance Chamber of Commerce, Agri-Business Committee; Defiance Republican Party and the Workforce Development Committee. In 1973, Darrell was the recipient of the VFW Voice of Democracy Award at Fairview High School and during 2000, Darrell was awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award by Northwest State Community College. In 2001, Darrell received an award for the Outstanding Alumnus for Developmental Education Program. Darrell resides in Defiance with his wife Kim. They have three children and three grandchildren.
