Council President Tim Holtsberry

Council President Tim Holtsberry was first elected Second Ward Councilman in 1995 and re-elected to that post in 1999 and 2003 before being elected Council President in 2005. Tim has served on council’s Finance, Police and Fire, and Economic Development Committees, he has also served as Chairman of the Sewer Committee. Tim was selected to be council’s representative to the Defiance Co. Airport Advisory Committee and the Greater Defiance Area Visitors and Tourism Bureau, where he also served as Treasurer of the Tourism Bureau.

Tim is a 1983 graduate of Bowling Green State University earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree. Tim recently attained his Juris Doctorate and Master of Business Administration degrees from the University of Toledo, College of Law. In July 2006 Tim passed the Ohio Bar exam on his first attempt and in November 2006 was sworn in as an attorney to practice law in the State of Ohio. Since 1983 Tim has been the owner of Tim’s Tax Service and in November 2006 rolled that business into his practice of law continuing to do business as the Tim Holtsberry Co., LLC.

Tim has been involved in many civic-minded endeavors including coaching girls’ softball and YMCA basketball. Tim is also the President of the Defiance High School Band Boosters and serves as a chaperone for the band. Since 1995, Tim has been an elected member of the Defiance County Democratic Central Committee and was selected by the Democrats as the party’s candidate for State Senate and State Representative in 1998 and 2000, respectively.

Tim’s wife, Deb is a teacher’s aide at St. John Lutheran School in Defiance, and the couple have two daughters, Amanda, a Finance/Accounting double major at Bowling Green State University and Kayla, a member of the Band of Class and an aspiring thespian attending Defiance High School.
