Stephen F. Hubbard

Stephen F. Hubbard was elected to an at-large seat on Defiance City Council for the four-year term beginning January 1, 2006. As a member of City Council, Steve serves as Chairman of the Police & Fire Committee, member of the Streets & Sidewalk Committee, Water Committee and Traffic Commission.

Steve has been a lawyer with the law firm of Weaner, Zimmerman, Bacon, Yoder & Hubbard, Ltd. since 1984. He has been a Director of The Hubbard Company since 1987 and Corporate Secretary since 2002; and Co-Founder/Co-Owner, Director and Secretary-Treasurer of Maumee Valley Title Agency, Inc. since 1995. He has been the solicitor for the Village of Ney since 1986 and for the Village of Sherwood since 2003.

He is a graduate of Fairview High School, The Ohio State University, and the University of Toledo College of Law.

Steve is a past President of Defiance Rotary Club; Director and past President of the Defiance Area Chamber of Commerce; trustee, Secretary and past Chairman of the Defiance Rotary Foundation; and past President of Defiance City Schools Foundation, Defiance 2000, and Defiance Crime Stoppers, Inc. He was previously elected to two four-year terms on the Defiance County Board of Education.

He is a volunteer for youth activities and for the Boy Scouts. He received the Four Avenues of Service Citation from Rotary International and the Ohio Community Service Award - awarded by Ohio State Bar Foundation. For his community service, Steve was selected as an Olympic Torchbearer for the 1996 Olympic Torch Relay – selected to carry the Olympic Flame on June 8, 1996 in northwest Ohio in celebration of the XXVI Olympiad in Atlanta, Georgia, U.S.A.

Steve was appointed to two three-year terms by Ohio Supreme Court Chief Justice Thomas J. Moyer to the Ohio Supreme Court's Commission on Continuing Legal Education where he served as Chairman. He was elected to two-year term as Delegate to the Ohio State Bar Association Council of Delegates and served as past President of the Defiance County Bar Association.

Steve is a member of Defiance County Republican Party Executive Committee, Rotary, YMCA, Chamber of Commerce, Ohio State Bar Association, Defiance County Bar Association, Elks, Eagles, Defiance County Fish & Game Association, Defiance County Humane Society and The Ohio State University Alumni Association.
