Senior TriadThe Defiance Senior Triad held its first organized meeting in 1997. The Senior Triad is a nationally known organization formed by the National Sheriff's Association, The International Chiefs of Police and the American Association of Retired Persons to bring senior citizens and law enforcement together. Locally the Defiance Senior Triad is made up from officers of the Defiance County Sheriff's Office, the Defiance Police Department and senior citizens throughout Defiance County. This Triad was formed so law enforcement could work side by side with senior citizens to make their lives safer in our communities by exposing elder abuse, frauds, scams, and other criminal acts committed against Seniors. The Defiance Senior Triad is made up of citizens age 55 or older from throughout Defiance County. The Senior Triad is driven by a Board of elected seniors called Senior and Lawmen Together (S.A.L.T.). The S.A.L.T. Council drives the Senior Triad by having Law Enforcement throughout Defiance County put on programs designed to make our communities safer for our senior population. The Senior Triad allows the Defiance Police Department to work closely with the senior citizens of Defiance to make our community a "Great Place to Live". We invite all Senior Citizens of Defiance to become active participants in the Senior Triad. For more information regarding the Senior Triad contact Chief Norm Walker at the Defiance Police Department and he will be glad to help you. |
