Successful completion of any project requires the input and efforts of all division employees.

Operations
The 6 operations subdivision staff members provide the wastewater treatment plant with operational coverage 365 days a year. This subdivision is responsible for daily operation of the plant’s treatment processes along with minor maintenance and upkeep of the facilities. This subdivision is also responsible for the operation and staffing of the plant’s laboratory. The laboratory chemist is responsible for analyzing the wastewater entering and leaving the treatment facility to ensure that proper and complete treatment is maintained at all times.

Maintenance & Collection
The 5 employees of this subdivision are responsible for major preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance activities at the wastewater treatment plant and at the numerous outlying pump stations, which help to convey wastewater to the treatment plant. They are also responsible for emergency and preventive maintenance on 90 miles of sanitary and combined sewer lines and interceptors, 32 storm flow regulators, 44 combined sewer overflows, which fall under the Combined Sewer Overflow Operational Plan, 4 river siphons, and over 2,600 manholes.

ciscoPretreatment
This subdivision consists of 2 employees who are responsible for administering and implementing Defiance’s federal and state EPA-mandated pretreatment program. Responsibilities include monitoring and controlling non-domestic industrial users to ensure that their wastewater discharges comply with federal, state, and local regulations and requirements. The pretreatment program’s primary goal is the protection of the sewer system, treatment plant, and the receiving stream from harmful or toxic discharges
