The Carter Road Pumping Station, in south Defiance near Carter Road and S.R. 66, receives wastewater from the developed areas in the vicinity of the Carter Road and south S.R. 66 intersection.

The wet well/dry well pumping station was built in 1973 and contains two wastewater pumps. Design capacity of the station is 0.5 mgd with a peak capacity of 1.0 mgd using both pumps. Wastewater is pumped into an 8‑inch force main which discharges into the 12‑inch sewer near the intersection of Palmer Drive and S.R. 66 and is tributary to the Summit Street Interceptor Sewer.
